HOUSTON U-CON 2008
This past weekend, Hopper Comics was in Houston, Texas at Houston U-Con promoting our latest titles-Breaking the Ice and Jungle Trek 2, this convention was organized by Trey Wickwire. The event was to raise money for the Northwest Community Unitarian Universalist Church. You can check out pictures at my PHOTOS gallery. Trey held a very well organized and very fun event for all to enjoy. Trey is very supportive of small press publishers. I HIGHLY recommend my fellow publishers to sign up for next year. Each year it seems to be getting bigger and better. Here is his email address if you want to register for next year: trey.wickwire@gmail.com
HOPPER COMICS PRESS RELEASE: "Hopper Comics will publish Web Comic sensation Breaking the Ice! Originally released as a web comic, Breaking the Ice is taking it to the next level in print form, combining the first fifty strips from the original series. This fantastic comic follows the misadventures of aspiring Mick Nardelli as he faces the rigors and horrors of auditions, day jobs and unstable relationships. Breaking the Ice has been called offbeat, quirky character driven and most of all...funny! Readers who long for the classic craft of newspaper style comics will enjoy this colorful and series. Creator John Keating is a professional stand up comedian and actor. Keating has not only performed with such greats as Barenaked Ladies, Dave Chapelle and George Carlin but also made numerous appearances in film and on television. He claims to have not had much experience with unstable relationships. We don't believe him for a minute! "

The class was very eager and excited to hear about how a comic book is made and the process involved with it. There were lots of questions and everyone had a great time. I would like to thank the staff of Decker ELementary School for allowing me a chance to speak to the children about literacy and the importance of it. If you would like a speaker from the publishing company to visit your school, please email me at: stanmarsh1@msn.com. There is no charge for guest appearances. We are always willing to assist.
